School Board Transitions to Electronic Agenda for Meetings

Modernized Format Enhances Transparency, Access for Public

VIERA—Members of the Brevard County School Board trained Feb. 19 on a new paperless agenda system designed to streamline Board meetings. The new e-Agenda system has been partially implemented since November, but will be fully piloted for the first time at the Feb. 26 School Board meeting. The move to a paperless agenda will enhance the transparency of the district’s business, inviting the public to follow along with the real-time agenda online. The move will also reduce paper costs and increase the efficiency of meeting preparation.

“This new system streamlines our processes, is better for the environment, and will ultimately save the district money on printing,” said Superintendent Dr. Richard A. DiPatri. “It’s a significant step forward in modernizing how we do business, and we are particularly excited about how e-Agenda gives parents, teachers and the larger community an instantaneous view of how Board meeting business is conducted.”

The e-Agenda is an online meeting management tool supplied by the Idea Integration Corp. District staff now prepare agenda items online for review and approval by the superintendent. Board members will review the agenda electronically, and all Board members and staff will follow along during the meeting by using laptop computers.

Other Florida school districts utilizing e-Agenda include Miami-Dade, Palm Beach and Duval. Full BPS agenda packets are available to the public on the BPS Web site, www.brevardschools.org, and a limited number of agendas will be published for the public attending each Board meeting.
