In math, Brevard’s scale score improved from 340 last year to 345 in 2008. The state scale score improved five points, from 328 to 333. Brevard’s third grade students performing at or above grade level in math increased from 81 percent in 2007 to 83 percent this year, compared to 76 percent statewide.

“These are very good results,” said Superintendent Dr. Richard A. DiPatri. “Our math and reading scale scores are improving. I congratulate the hard work of our students, and the efforts and energies of our teachers and parents as well. We will look very closely at these results in coming weeks.”

Particularly noteworthy were the improvements seen by students at Endeavour Elementary Magnet School. Endeavour recorded the largest improvements in reading and math scale scores of any school in the district.  The school’s reading mean scale score jumped 38 points, from 247 to 285. Endeavour’s math mean scale score increased 35 points, from 254 to 289.

Parents can access their third grade students’ FCAT scores on the FCAT Parent Network (www.fcatparentnetwork.com) beginning at 6 a.m. Friday, May 23. Parent passwords were previously sent home with students.
