School Board Issues Call for Planning Agency Representatives

 

            VIERA—The School Board of Brevard County periodically appoints community representatives to Local Planning Agencies (LPAs). These LPAs are typically the Local Government Planning & Zoning Boards. Responsibility for nominating potential representatives rests with the Board member whose District includes that municipality. However, citizens who might wish to serve are invited to make their interest known to Brevard Public Schools.

Apart from a willingness to volunteer some time and effort, a sincere desire to look out for the interests of Brevard’s students, and some understanding of the process that governs development, the only mandate is that the individual be a resident of the local jurisdiction to which he or she is appointed.

Currently, eight of the 17 LPAs do not include a School Board representative:

•           City of Cocoa

•           City of Cocoa Beach

•           Town of Indialantic

•           City of Indian Harbour Beach

•           Town of Malabar

•           Town of Palm Shores

•           Town of Melbourne Village

•           City of West Melbourne
