BPS Continues Summer Voluntary Prekindergarten Registration

 

VIERA—The community may register now for the 2008 Summer Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) Program. This free 300-hour summer program is available to all children four years old on or before Sept. 1, 2007, who live in the state of Florida and did not attend the 2007-08 school-year program.

The Summer VPK Program begins June 9 and ends Aug. 5, with no school on July 3 and 4. The school day is from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Breakfast and lunch will be served at the school. Parents will be responsible for the transportation of their child.

Registration for this program is a two step process:

Step One:

Parents must register their children for this state summer program by obtaining a Certificate of Eligibility from the Early Learning Coalition of Brevard (ELC). Call 637-1800 option 1 for an appointment. 

Step Two:

After obtaining a Certificate of Eligibility, parents may enroll their child at any one of the Brevard Public schools offering Summer VPK.

Items needed for registration at the schools:

(1)  Certificate of Eligibility from ELC

(2)  Child’s birth certificate

(3)  Immunization records

(4)  Current physical

 

The following Brevard Public Schools will be hosting the Summer VPK Program: Dr. W. J. Creel Elementary; Enterprise Elementary; Longleaf Elementary; Manatee Elementary; and Turner Elementary. Locations for the Summer VPK Program may change depending upon the number of students enrolling in the program.
