Volunteers
play an important role in Brevard Public Schools. During
the 2004-2005 school year, more than 900,000 hours were
logged by thousands of volunteers.
To become a
volunteer, an individual must complete a Brevard Public
School's
Volunteer/Mentor Application and Security Check. The
application form is to be filled out by the volunteer
completely either on the computer in VIPS or on paper and
returned to the school volunteer coordinator for review.
Before volunteering on a
Brevard Public School's campus, individuals are required to
provide a picture I.D. and/or a Florida drivers license
number.
A volunteer cannot be
placed as a volunteer until a background check has cleared
the volunteer for volunteer work with Brevard Public
Schools. An individual with a positive criminal background
history must
provide a written description of the offense to accompany
the application directly to Office of District and School
Security.
For more information on
becoming a volunteer, contact the Volunteer Coordinator at
any public school in Brevard County.
