WMSS is committed to providing a technology-rich environment throughout the campus. We have created a new STEAM Space in room 601. Students in grades K-6 will have many opportunities to become immersed in technology during this school year, incorporating the disciplines of science, engineering and design challenges, art, music, and math in the process!
Students will have opportunities to learn BPS Best Practices for online research techniques, become proficient in both Office and Google applications by exploring various presentation tools, chart and graph generators, graphic art apps, use educational online resources to practice ELA and Math standards, as well as hone their keyboarding skills.
Additionally, some students will have opportunities to learn beginning coding through various free online resources such as Code, Scratch, and Tynker, create digital narratives and movies using a myriad of applications, explore robotics through Legos, Dash, and Ozobots, create and innovate with Minecraft for Education and take part in fun Makerspaces!
We are also working with community members and local businesses to offer enrichment opportunities via grants such as Mission to Mars and Lego/Robotics.
WMSS continues to offer Future Problem Solvers, Odyssey of the Mind, and Chess through our after school clubs, as well!
If you're not prepared to be wrong,
you'll never come up with anything original!
