    I wanted to provide some specific information regarding the 2020 Palm Bay Magnet High School Graduation.  Graduation is scheduled for Saturday, July 25th at 9:00 am in the Palm Bay Magnet High School stadium.  Access will be limited due to CDC mandates.  As a result, tickets will be required for attendance for all guests.  Ticket pick-up will occur on Tuesday, July 15, Wednesday, July 16, and Thursday, July 17 from 8:00 am – 3:00 pm in the Palm Bay Magnet High School front office.  If you cannot pick your tickets up at that time, please contact Palm Bay Magnet High School via phone to ensure arrangements for alternate pick-up prior to 3:00 pm on Thursday, July 17th.  If not, no guest tickets will be available for the graduate.  Please remember social distancing expectations when entering the front office lobby.  The individual picking up the tickets must have a valid photo ID.  If the individual picking up is not the student, the individual’s name must be on the students’ contact list and all must sign for ticket receipt.

     

    No replacement or additional tickets will be provided, so please secure your tickets upon receipt.

     

    All student obligations, including property return, must be completed/cleared to receive tickets. 

     

    There is no practice permitted for graduation, therefore please adhere to the following: Graduation dress code is semi-formal. Please view the provided power point regarding graduation for specifics.  Please assist and adhere so that we do not have to react to any individual not in compliance.  Cap and gown with mortar (hat) with tassel are required.

     

    All graduates and guests are required to wear masks.

     

    Upon arrival, graduates will enter at the front gymnasium gates by 7:45 am.  Anyone arriving late may not be able to participate.  Temperatures will be taken, and students will be directed to a zone.  In each zone, students will be given a pre-labelled name card and they will be alphabetized in a line via social distancing.  Graduates, your name card is your responsibility and must be provided to the reader at the stage graduation entrance.

     

    When appropriate, zones will be escorted into the stadium and seated via social distancing for the ceremony.

     

    Upon completion, all students will return to their seats and the conferring of the diploma brief speech by me will occur.

     

    After the conferring, all students will be directed in a single file, social distanced fashion, back out the way you entered the stadium and back on to campus, where all graduates will pick up their actual diploma and be released.

    Attention Palm Bay Magnet High School Seniors and Senior Parents and Guardians,

     

    I am reaching out to you today to inform you of the latest update regarding graduation for our beloved Class of 2020. I am pleased to announce that as of Thursday, July 2nd, Brevard Public Schools has agreed to hold graduation ceremonies for each of its high schools from July 18th - 25th.

     

    Palm Bay Magnet High School’s graduation ceremony will be held on Saturday, July 25th at 9:00 am in the PBMHS stadium with strict adherence to social distancing guidelines and additional district-mandated health and safety protocols for students, guests, and staff to include:

     

    · Mandatory face coverings for all staff, participants, and attendees -- all are expected to have their own mask

     

    · Student temperature screenings upon arrival

     

    · Each graduate will receive guest tickets that will be available for pick-up next week at PBMHS, and all guests will be seated in the bleachers

     

    · No physical contact between students and/or staff

     

    · No guests on the field before, during, or after the ceremony

     

     

    Students will need to plan to arrive at Palm Bay Magnet High School by 7:45 am on Saturday, July 25th to participate in graduation. There will be no practice prior to the ceremony. Students will be seated six feet apart throughout the event’s duration, as will their guests. Upon completion of the ceremony, all graduates and visitors will immediately exit the venue as directed, while continuing to socially distance themselves from one another.

     

    A video providing specific directions will be posted on our website by the close of business on Thursday, July 9th providing specific graduation information regarding ticket pick-up, reporting time and location, dress code, fines and obligations, and other important information.

    Scholarships:

    Please visit our school website, under the guidance tab, to search and apply for scholarships through the Pirate’s Cove Scholarship Newsletter.  Deadlines are approaching fast – don’t miss out on free $!

     

    College Signing Day:

    On Thursday, April 30, 2020 Palm Bay Magnet HS will recognize all seniors that have been admitted to college, enlisted in the military or accepted to a trade school at a school wide assembly.  If you have been accepted to a college/university, enlisted in a military branch or been accepted to a trade school, bring in your letter of acceptance/admission to Mrs. Colona in the guidance office by April 17, 2020.

     

    Academic Awards Ceremony:

    If you find you are a recipient of a college scholarship based on academic or athletic merit, we would like to recognize you at our Awards Ceremony on Monday, May 18th at 6:00pm in the Auditorium.  This ceremony will honor all senior academic and athletic scholarship recipients.  In order to obtain all the necessary information, and include you in our celebration, we ask that submit a copy of your scholarship award letter to Mrs. Colona in the guidance office no later than May 8, 2020.

     

    FAFSA:

    The Office of Federal Student Aid, also known as FAFSA, provides grants that you never have to pay back, loans, and work-study funds for colleges or career schools.  FAFSA offers more than $150 billion each year to help millions of students pay for higher education.  The Free Application for Federal Student Aid is now available to seniors for the 2020-21 school year.  Families are encouraged to complete the online application regardless of their income.  Families will need their tax information to complete the application.  If you should need help filling out the application, chat with an online customer service representative on the FAFSA website or feel free to call Palm Bay Magnet High School.  Additionally, the FAFSA application must be completed in order to be awarded any scholarships from colleges.  To apply visit: www.fafsa.edu.gov
