Ms. Catherine Halbuer

Ms. Halbuer began her teaching career in New Jersey teaching middle school and high school mathematics and coaching cheerleading. She moved to Brevard County in September of 1991 and began substituting at West Shore when it was Central Junior High. Shortly thereafter she began teaching mathematics at Eau Gallie High School where she also coached cheerleading and girl’s golf. Ms. Halbuer then moved into administration as a 10-month Dean/Assistant Principal at Cocoa High for a year before moving to Merritt Island High as the 12-month Assistant Principal for curriculum. In 2010 she became principal of Clearlake Middle School and then moved back to Cocoa High School when the school closed to assist with the transition of Cocoa High to a 7-12 school. While at Cocoa High she was responsible for middle school curriculum along with 9th and 12th grade discipline for 2 years before moving to West Shore. Ms. Halbuer holds a B.A. degree in Economics from Douglass College, Rutgers University, and a M.A. in Supervision and Curriculum Planning from Georgian Court College. She has begun working on her doctorate at UCF in Educational Leadership. Ms. Halbuer,s hobbies are reading, gardening, lobstering, fishing and sailing. She enjoys spending time with her family including her two German Shepherds.
