Dr. Danielle McKinnon, Director of Equity & Diversity
Dr. McKinnon has always been one to stand up for what is right and view differences as strengths. She has earned her academic degrees from The Florida State University, Troy University, and Capella University. She also holds academic certifications in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion from Cornell University and University of South Florida, while continuously pursuing lifelong education.
Through her education and skills in student affairs, academic leadership, counseling, and psychology, she has served in postsecondary education for over a decade in a series of progressively responsible roles in student services and academic affairs that have often been new to an institution. She passionately applies an equitable lens to her work and began leading DEI initiatives in various capacities a decade ago. Her most valued roles include serving as a Mentor to students, serving on various institution and community-based committees, and more importantly - being a mother. In October 2020, Dr. McKinnon began serving as Brevard Public Schools’ Director of Equity and Diversity - a new role developed to support all divisions in transformative and collaborative work to eradicate opportunity gaps, accelerate student achievement for all learners, and ensure a working environment of respect and appreciation for the value of diversity.
