    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

    1. I have a highly effective evaluation.  Will I get up to $15,000 if I transfer?

Teachers are eligible for the bonuses based on state VAM criteria, not district evaluations. Therefore, a highly effective district evaluation would not be the indicator used for bonus eligibility.

    2.  If I transfer now, am I only eligible if I still have a highly effective state VAM score next year? Or if I end up with a HE state VAM score when scores are released soon, will I qualify this year?

In order to earn bonuses, teachers must have a Highly Effective or Effective VAM upon release of the 2022 state VAM scores. The state VAM is based on a three year aggregate score, transfers occurring now would be reviewed to ensure status of “Highly Effective” or “Effective” VAM scores were maintained.

    3. What year’s VAM score qualifies?

Teachers are only eligible for the bonuses with a “Highly Effective” or “Effective” VAM score. If a teacher was assigned to students in the 2021-2022 school year in grades 4-12, it is likely they will earn a 2022 VAM score to determine eligibility for the bonus. If a teacher was not assigned to students in the 2021-2022 school year in grades 4-12, but have previously been assigned to students in that grade level, they may have a prior year VAM score that could determine eligibility for the bonus. The most current VAM score will be used to determine eligibility for the bonus. The state releases current year VAM data by July 31st each year.

    4. I am a highly effective PE teacher. Will I get up to $15,000 if I transfer?

If you have earned a “Highly Effective” state VAM score, you are eligible for the $15,000 bonus. If you have earned an “Effective” state VAM score, you are eligible for the $7,500 bonus.

    5. What happens if I transfer and then don’t get a HE or E state VAM? Can I go back to my previous position?

Due to earning a school grade of D, Endeavour and Creel are unable to hire new teachers that have a “Needs Improvement” state VAM or an “Unsatisfactory” state VAM. Teachers being considered for hire by school administration will have their current VAM reviewed prior to receiving an offer of employment and/or transfer.
