Early College PERT Testing
Attention Parents/Legal Guardians:
The Brevard County School District in partnership with Eastern Florida State College is pleased to offer a unique educational opportunity to our students called the Early College Program, formerly known as Collegiate High School. This program enables motivated students to earn the university-transferable credits – up to an Associate in Arts (A.A.) Degree - by high school graduation.
Students are required to have a 3.0GPA or higher and take the PERT test to see if they qualify for college level academic success. EGHS will offer an on campus PERT in conjunction with EFSC on January 31. Click here to register: https://forms.gle/vY3rtKzh19rktqNKA
What is Early College? It is a program that enables qualified students entering the 10th and 11th grade to complete the equivalent of up to 60 college credits by high school graduation. Participants dual enroll in two to four courses at EFSC each term which may include summer and earn college credits that satisfy requirements for both a high school diploma and the A.A. degree.
What are the costs? EFSC does not charge tuition and fees to students; the school district provides required college textbooks. The School district also provides round-trip transportation to EFSC for 10th grade early college participants during designated periods of the school day. Participants in the 11th and 12th grades are responsible for providing their own transportation to EFSC, but may ride on the 10th grade early college bus when space is available and with school permission.
Will the Early College program meet the school district’s graduation requirements? Yes, the Early College program of study aligns well with all requirements.
We invite you and your child to learn more about the Early College program by attending the information session on Thursday, February 2nd in Eau Gallie Auditorium at 6:00 PM.. Staff members from the school and Eastern Florida State College will present an overview of the program including admission criteria and college placement testing requirements. They will also respond to your questions.
We hope to see you on February 2nd.
