It is time for seniors to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid – known as FAFSA.  Completing the FAFSA is the first step toward getting federal aid for college or career & technical programs.  There are more than $150 billion in grants, loans and work-study funds available each year, but you have to complete the FAFSA to see if you are eligible for any money.  Many states, schools, and scholarships also use it to award their financial aid, so every senior should complete it.  Your first step is to visit www.StudentAid.gov to create an FSA ID for both the parent/guardian and your senior.  You will need the FSA ID to log into FAFSA website at www.FAFSA.gov to complete the application.

The FAFSA is so important that United Way of Brevard is giving away a $500 Walmart gift card to a PBMHS senior and an additional $500 Walmart gift card to a PBMHS parent that have completed their FAFSA.  All you have to do to enter your name in the drawing is to complete your FAFSA, print out your FAFSA Completion Letter and bring it to the PBMHS guidance office.  The drawing will be held at the end of April 2023.

FAFSA FRENZY day is scheduled for January 6, 2023 at PBMHS.  This day is set aside for all seniors to complete their FAFSA during the school day who have not yet applied.  However, seniors are encouraged to NOT wait until January to complete their FAFSA – get it done ASAP for the best possible $$ award amount!!!  If seniors have questions or need assistance completing their FAFSA, please reach out to Stefany Colona in the PBMHS College & Career Center, located in the PBMHS guidance office.  Her contact information is 321-952-5900, Ext 25527 or email colona.stefany@brevardschools.org

The Office of Federal Student Aid, also known as FAFSA, provides grants that you never have to pay back, loans, and work-study funds for colleges or career schools.  FAFSA offers more than $150 billion each year to help millions of students pay for higher education.  The Free Application for Federal Student Aid is now available to seniors for the 2022-23 school year.  Families are encouraged to complete the online application regardless of their income.  Families will need their tax information to complete the application.  If you should need help filling out the application, chat with an online customer service representative on the FAFSA website or feel free to call Palm Bay Magnet High School.  Additionally, the FAFSA application must be completed in order to be awarded any scholarships from colleges.  To apply visit: www.fafsa.edu.gov
