ELO
  • Parents,

It’s time to SAVE your child’s seat if they are returning to Sherwood.  The new process for ELO students is a lottery for enrollment and seats are not promised after the window closes.

If you are a current out of area student and want to secure your child’s placement at Sherwood, we need you to beat the waiting list and complete the ELO application on your Family Dashboard between Monday, May 22, 2023 and Friday, May 26, 2023.

If you need assistance with the ELO application process, please CALL Sherwood and ask for Denise so that we can help you get this completed.  This is critical if you plan to continue enrollment with us.

  • Education Location Option (ELO)

The Education Location Option opens April 3rd. If your child is not zoned (based on parent/guardian residence) to attend Sherwood Elementary you must submit an ELO application EVERY YEAR.

Requirements for Submitting an Application to a Non-Zoned School:

    • Must be a current Florida Resident and upload 2 proofs of residency from Tier 1 and Tier 2 to the Family Dashboard before submitting an application. For a list of approved proof of residency
    • A behavior/academic parent and student contract is required upon entry. This will be completed by the parent during the application process in a series of "Agree" questions thru the Family Dashboard.

***IMPORTANT: APPLICATION DOES NOT GUARANTEE ACCEPTANCE. Each school's capacity limit varies. Once a school reaches its capacity limit, it will be "frozen" to ELO applications, therefore EARLY APPLICATION IS RECCOMMENED! See below of a list of currently frozen schools:

Testing
  • End-of-Year testing begins the first week of May! PLEASE ensure your child gets adequate sleep each night and eats a healthy breakfast in the morning. We want EVERY child to perform to the best of their abilities! These assessments are an opportunity for students to demonstrate mastery of grade level standards and readiness for the next grade level. Learn more about the F.A.S.T. assessments below.

Focus Registration
  • If you have not yet activated your Parent Portal for FOCUS, you will need to do so ASAP.

FOCUS is the software program Brevard County uses for grade reporting. Brevard County’s Focus Parent Portal provides parents and guardians with a view of their child’s assignments, grades, attendance information and current class averages.

Registration for the 2023-2024 school year will be completed online using the BPS Parent Portal on FOCUS.

For the protection of your child’s confidential information, the following secure procedures have been put in place for parents and guardians to register for a FOCUS Parent Portal account. The parent/guardian will need a valid email address, your child’s student ID number, birthdate and a FOCUS PIN. To get the information required to activate your parent portal (child’s student ID and FOCUS PIN – not the same as your student’s FOCUS PIN #), the parent/guardian will need to bring a valid photo ID to the office during regular office hours.

Don’t delay in getting your Parent Portal for your FOCUS account activated.
