Mrs. Susan Mulchrone, Principal
Mrs. Mulchrone earned her Master of Science in Educational Leadership, Master of Education, and her Bachelor of Science in Health Arts from the University of St. Francis in Joliet, IL. She is currently working on her Doctorate of Education in Leadership and Stewardship from the same university via on-line classes. Mrs. Mulchrone was an assistant principal for two years and a principal for three years in the suburbs of Chicago. She then moved to Florida six years ago and was an assistant principal for two years and a principal for the past four years in Orange County. Mrs. Mulchrone accepted the role of principal at Oak Park in February 2018. She has worked closely with the staff, students, and the families to ensure a smooth transition. The 2018-2019 school year will mark her twelfth year in school administration.
Research states that the two main factors that impact student success are effective teachers and having high expectations for students. Mrs. Mulchrone believes strongly in both factors. She supports teachers through Professional Development and coaching to ensure that teachers are knowledgeable in the best practices of instruction. She also believes in high expectations for student learning and that students will rise to those high expectations when they believe that adults think that they achieve those goals. Mrs. Mulchrone believes in a strong home-school connection and encourages parents to volunteer at Oak Park as well as be active in their child’s education. Building strong relationships with students and families is essential and will be a key part of Oak Park’s philosophy. Mrs. Mulchrone is looking forward to a great 2018-2019 school year!
