Her Bachelors of Science degree is from Tennessee Temple University, and she received her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.

Ms. Tomlinson was the recipient of the Florida Department of Education 2003's Brevard County Most Outstanding Middle School Assistant Principal Award. Ms. Tomlinson was also the Brevard Federation of Teachers Highest Ranked High School Assistant Principal of 1999-2000 and 2000-2001, and was Brevard County's 2011 Elementary Literacy Leader of the Year in addition to being a State of Florida Finalist for Elementary Literacy Leader of the Year.

Ms. Tomlinson has enjoyed the privilege of teaching at all levels (elementary school, middle school, and high school), as well as serving as an administrator at all levels.

Ms. Tomlinson taught 6th grade at Atlantis Elementary School from 1990 through 1995, and was the drama teacher at Space Coast Middle School from 1995 through 1998. She then moved to Bayside High School and remained there until November of 2001 as a teacher on assignment (as a dean), and then an Assistant Principal. It was exciting for her to be part of the newest high school in Brevard County. At the conclusion of 2001, she became the Assistant Principal of Curriculum at John F. Kennedy Middle School. In 2003, Ms. Tomlinson returned to Atlantis Elementary School as the Principal until 2012, when she was appointed the Principal of James Madison Middle School until January of 2018.

In January 2018, Ms. Tomlinson was honored to "return home" to the school of her childhood and lead John F. Kennedy Middle School as principal. ~PANTHER PRIDE!~
