Although it will be his first year as a James Madison Middle Mohawk, Francesco Rosati has been a teacher for ten years. Francesco graduated from UCF in 2012 with a Bachelors in History and a Bachelors in English Literature. His experience in teaching ranges from languages (Italian, Spanish, and of course, English) to Science, Math, Geography, Economics, Civics, Drama, Chess, and his greatest passion: History. Francesco decided to become a teacher when he realized how much he enjoyed storytelling, as well as explaining/discussing multiple subjects. Francesco has always appreciated the impact which education had over future generations, and after ten-years of teaching in private schools, Francesco became more determined to expand his teaching experience in higher school levels. He is therefore grateful to begin his newfound experience at James Madison Middle School. Francesco enjoys swimming, literature, classical music, writing, movies, meditating, traveling, and long walks at Chain of Lakes and the Max Brewer bridge.
Greeting, parents and students! My name is Mrs. McClellan, I am excited about the upcoming school year, and all of the wonderful opportunities there will be for us to learn and grow together. Born in Tokyo, Japan to military parents of six children. I graduated from Satellite High School and earned a BA degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Florida. I am married and have an adult daughter. My hobbies include gardening, cooking and sewing. My love of teaching grows out of a love for children. Growing up as a young child, I didn’t always feel confident and self-assured. Teaching provides me with an opportunity every day to inspire, nurture and instill confidence while pushing students to “reach for the stars.” Creating a classroom culture that feels like a family, a place where students feel free to share their ideas, opinions and thoughts free of judgement and repercussions, while inspiring every student to be their best selves. I love teaching FACS courses and have been doing so since 2007. My enduring goal is to ensure that every student that passes through my class feels that they have the power to change the world. This year is going to be amazing and I can hardly wait to get started!
Hello Madison Mohawk Family! I am Kathryn Thorner, and I teach within the Social Studies department. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology at Florida State University, and my Juris Doctorate from Barry University School of Law. After practicing law for about ten years, I made the switch to teaching in order to share my love of the law, government, and history of the United States with the future of our nation. Last year was my first year joining the Madison Family, and I’m excited to be back this year to continue to teach US History and help roll out Madison’s Student Court Program.
Hola! “To learn a language is to have one more window from which to look at the world.” ~ Chinese Proverb. My greatest reward as a teacher is no doubt found in the expressions of my students as they explore and learn about life from a perspective different from their own. Welcome to the World of Spanish! I was born in Cuba, but I have lived in the U.S. for the past 40 years. This will be my 17th year in Education, my 12th in Brevard County. Together we will tackle the challenges unique to this school year and have a fun cultural experience. I will be teaching all levels of Spanish in our new fully immersed program. I want my students to feel comfortable speaking, reading, and writing Spanish while we learn about the different Spanish cultures throughout the world. Aquí Vamos! (Here we go!)
I graduated from the University of Florida and have been teaching Physical Education for 33 years. I had the privilege of coaching J.V. wrestling, Freshmen and J.V. football, as well as Varsity baseball at Astronaut High school for many years. For the past several years I have coached track for Madison Middle school. Our students have done an amazing job in their events. They have learned the importance of teamwork, endurance, and showing good sportsmanship for their teammates and to those on other teams. I look forward to another great season this Spring. My wife, Sharon, has been teaching at Apollo Elementary for 27 years. We have four children. My son Christopher works at Patrick Air Force Base. My daughter Amber is a third grade teacher in Mount Dora and we also have twin daughters, Paige and Riley, who are juniors at Titusville High School.
