  • "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.”. --Ben Franklin Parent Connections Keep up to date with your child's grades by signing up for and viewing grades/assignments on FOUCS Welcome! Hello, Mohawk Families! My name is Angelique Browne, my family and I moved here in July 2019 from New York City. My husband and I have 3 wonderful children who have been troupers about this move. A move that has taken them out of a city they have known all their life. I enjoy spending time with my family, going to the park, teaching my kids how to bake/cook, travelling and exploring. These are experiences that not only teach us about diversity; but how to be responsible and self-sufficient. As we embark on this journey of uncertainty together, please remember we are on the same team and have the same goal. Ensure that our children obtain academic success in a nurturing and safe environment. Together we got this! My Education and Professional Background I earned my MAED in Education, Special education & Child Development from Ashford University of San Diego, CA in 2014; and my BA in Psychology from the CUNY Baccalaureate program in New York City in 2006. Over the years, I have worked as a substitute teacher and volunteered in several NYC schools. In addition, I worked as a production coordinator at a children’s publishing Book Company. I am looking forward to working with the Brevard school district and learning and building relationships with all our Mohawk students! My Educational Philosophy I believe in teaching the WHOLE child, learning from them, and finding out what they are passionate about. That way I can nurture that passion through differentiated instructions. My goal is to reach each student at their level then elevate them to a level beyond their expectation. With this philosophy, I think the student’s preparation and success rate will undoubtedly eliminate any barrier or impossibilities they may face. My job is to support them on their journey of growth as they navigate the world around them!

His experience in teaching ranges from languages (Italian, Spanish, and of course, English) to Science, Math, Geography, Economics, Civics, Drama, Chess, and his greatest passion: History. Francesco decided to become a teacher when he realized how much he enjoyed storytelling, as well as explaining/discussing multiple subjects. Francesco has always appreciated the impact which education had over future generations, and after ten-years of teaching in private schools, Francesco became more determined to expand his teaching experience in higher school levels. He is therefore grateful to begin his newfound experience at James Madison Middle School. Francesco enjoys swimming, literature, classical music, writing, movies, meditating, traveling, and long walks at Chain of Lakes and the Max Brewer bridge.
  • As a product of Brevard Public Schools, I had amazing teachers that instilled in me a passion for learning. I wanted to give that to my students, too. In 1994, I graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.? Charge On!? Ten years later, I followed that up with a Master’s from Nova Southeastern University in Education Leadership. I am currently starting my 27th year in education. My husband (Mr. Mastroianni) and daughter (Mrs. Stahl) are both teachers with Brevard Public Schools, as well. My son (Ernie) is currently attending Eastern Florida State College and hopes to transfer to the University of Florida next fall.?Our family also includes our amazing dogs, Nila Blue and Booty. Just thinking about my sweet puppies makes me smile. I enjoy reading, watching movies, DISNEY, traveling, and my most favorite hanging out with my family.? I really love the Madison family and am looking forward to an exciting year. This is Madison!
  • As a teacher we dream to open up a whole new world to our students, let them see themselves beyond the here and now, to help them understand where they are today is not where they have to be in the future. • Greeting, parents and students! My name is Mrs. McClellan, I am excited about the upcoming school year, and all of the wonderful opportunities there will be for us to learn and grow together. Born in Tokyo, Japan to military parents of six children. I graduated from Satellite High School and earned a BA degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Florida. I am married and have an adult daughter. My hobbies include gardening, cooking and sewing. My love of teaching grows out of a love for children. Growing up as a young child, I didn’t always feel confident and self-assured. Teaching provides me with an opportunity every day to inspire, nurture and instill confidence while pushing students to “reach for the stars.” Creating a classroom culture that feels like a family, a place where students feel free to share their ideas, opinions and thoughts free of judgement and repercussions, while inspiring every student to be their best selves. I love teaching FACS courses and have been doing so since 2007. My enduring goal is to ensure that every student that passes through my class feels that they have the power to change the world. This year is going to be amazing and I can hardly wait to get started!

  • Parent Connections Keep up to date with your child's grades by signing up for and viewing grades/assignments on FOUCS Welcome! Hello, Mohawk Families! My name is Mr. O’Rourke, my family and I moved here in November 2019 from Boston Ma. My son is currently pursuing his Masters degree in Art Education. I enjoy spending time with my family, going to the beach, Star Wars (I am a certified Luke Skywalker with the 501st), martial arts(Uechi Ryu), anything NASA, anything nature, playing the drums, golfing, and all Boston sports teams(Go Pats, Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics and now TB Bucs). As we embark on this journey of uncertainty together, please remember we are on the same team and have the same goal. Ensure that our children obtain academic success in a nurturing and safe environment. My Education and Professional Background I earned my MAT in Science 5-9 and my BA from the University of Massachusetts. I have been teaching science for 12yrs. I am looking forward to working with the Brevard school district and learning and building relationships with all our Mohawk students! My Educational Philosophy Science is about more than learning facts and concepts. Sure, these things are an important part of science, but I do not believe that they are enough. Teachers not only provide students with content knowledge, they also provide them with the skills necessary to develop questions. They then take that one step further to promote and develop methods and scientific processes necessary to investigate the answers to those questions. Hands-on and "minds-on" science engages students and not only promotes learning but fosters the wish for students to learn more about science, and perhaps even find a passion within the field. I believe that children learn best by "doing." Teachers must provide children with an opportunity to explore their own interests and passions, as well as building upon the knowledge they have already gained and previous experiences they have had. In order to involve children in "doing" science, inquiry-based lessons and activities are a must. Although science instruction may not begin in this manner, teachers should guide students to this stage along a continuum. We, as teachers, must be prepared to hand the reins over to students and encourage them to take responsibility in their own learning. This does not mean we have to completely give up control; teachers are needed, even in inquiry-based instruction, as guides and to make sure that the needs of the classroom are met. It does however, promote critical thinking of students, making connections with other areas of science, life and previous experiences of the children, and most importantly fosters a curiosity and a will to learn. I also believe whole-heartedly in the richness of an integrated curriculum. I believe that it is important to connect science with other areas of instruction, both in and out of the classroom. Making these connections with other subjects and student experiences will make the material easier to relate to for the students and will also enrich their learning and make it more memorable for them. This integration may also enhance my ability to reach multiple learning styles and understand the needs of each individual student. Authentic assessment also makes this possible. The ongoing process of assessment is necessary to make sure that each student is profiting from the lessons and to dispel any misconceptions as they arise. The most important aspect of teaching science is having a will to learn for myself. Teachers never quit learning. This is an important message to bestow on children. Our own will to learn, along with the students, will not only model the learning process for them, but also help them realize our own passions as teachers. Learning is important to us and as students understand this, it will promote their own will to learn and realize that learning can, in fact, be enjoyable.
