Tina Susin
DeLaura Middle School Principal
Ms. Susin was born and raised on Long Island, NY and relocated to Melbourne, Florida in 1996, where she began her teaching career at Johnson Middle School. Ms. Susin taught various grade levels, primarily secondary, in both Florida and New York. Her educational experience has been in Exceptional Student Education as an NBCT Exceptional Education Specialist, and in Secondary Literacy as a teacher and Reading Expert. In 2010, Ms. Susin was selected as the Brevard Public Schools Reading Teacher of the Year, Regional Reading Teacher of the Year and Florida’s Middle School Reading Teacher of the Year. Ms. Susin received a Master of Education degree in Educational Administration in 2008 and has served in the capacity of Educational Leader in Brevard County since 2011.
Ms. Susin enjoys spending time with her family both here, in North Carolina, and on Long Island. She spends most of her free time on the soccer fields with her daughter, Olivia.

Josefina Melendez
DeLaura Middle School Assistant Principal - Curriculum Coordinator
Mrs. Melendez was born and raised in Chicago, IL, and relocated to Melbourne, Florida in 2021 to be near family. She began her career in 1994 teaching English and ESL classes at the high school level. In 2006, she moved into secondary school administration and served as an assistant principal for curriculum and instruction, as well as AP/Dean. In 2016 Mrs. Melendez became an elementary school principal and continued in that role for two more years once she joined Brevard Public Schools. She is excited about serving students at the secondary level once again as the DeLaura AP for Curriculum and Instruction.
Mrs. Melendez and her husband have been married for 26 years and have two boys who attend BPS schools. Their activities include swimming, baseball, and spending time with their pets (a beautiful Labrador, a box turtle, and a bunny rabbit).
