The Library Collection
The AJMS collection is designed to support the content curricula and provide age-appropriate literature for recreational reading. The collection is cataloged in an online database called Destiny, which is accessible via the Internet. Library materials include print, multimedia, and online resources:
- Print resources include books and reference books.
- Multimedia resources include ebooks, audiobooks, and DVDs.
Online resources include our library website which provides access to many helpful links, as well as databases and subscription services provided by our district.
-
Borrowing
Students are encouraged to borrow from our collection. Each student has a patron number. Students can use their district login to access their Destiny account via LaunchPad. Students can also request materials from other schools in the district, subject to the approval of media center personnel.
-
Loan Period
Library materials are checked out for a two-week loan, and may be renewed two times, on or before the due date.
Easy books, graphic novels, and Wimpy Kid books are not renewable.Books that are currently checked out may be placed on hold by another student.
Students may check out three books at a time.

Overdue & Lost Books
Further borrowing may be suspended until overdue materials are returned. Once a book is more than three months overdue, it is presumed lost and a bill is generated. A letter is mailed home, along with a copy of the book's record showing the replacement cost.
If a library book is returned to the library within the same academic year that it was lost, any monies paid will be refunded.

Damaged Books
When a book is returned to the media center in a damaged condition, the Media Specialist will attempt to determine the cause and extent of the damage.
