Tony McCormick, Varsity Head Wrestling Coach

Coach Tony McCormick is the varsity wrestling coach.  He began wrestling at age 3.  He wrestled in 6 state tournaments between 7th and 12th grades.  He won 196 varsity matches, which resulted in two state titles, one second place and one third place.  He was undefeated during his junior and senior years of high school, winning 73 matches, and 7 junior national titles.

Coach McCormick attended Edinboro University on a full scholarship, where he wrestled for Assistant Coach Bruce Baumgartner.  Before coaching for Space Coast, he was assistant coach at MIHS in 1987, producing two state champions that season.

Coach McCormick believes in developing the entire wrestler.  Along with wrestling technique he stresses discipline and respect.  He expects the wrestler to be a class act not only on the mat but in the classroom and at home.  Coach expects good grades. Coach pushes very hard in the wrestling room so that each wrestler is fully prepared for each and every minute of every tournament.  He also promotes and expects team unity.
