    Student Survey

Computer access was markedly increased within the Digital Classrooms. 60% of students in the English classes with digital classrooms reported using computers at least once a week or more, where only 13% of students in English classes who did not have Digital Classroom students reported using computers once a week or more. When asked how prepared students were for the FSA ELA assessment, 50% of the English Digital Classrooms felt very prepared, as opposed to 43% of the classrooms that did not have the digital classroom carts.

Each of the seven participating ELA teachers utilized digital classroom tools, based on the needs of their students:

Classrooms utilized the (HMH) online curriculum materials for 50% or more of class time, including writing arguments to support claims in an analysis of substantive topics or texts, as assessed on the FSA ELA assessment. Teachers reported using programs such as No Red Ink

Students became well versed on using digital tools to write in response to text and collaborated on the writing process through the use of Google docs, drafting, conferencing, and publishing online and in various other venues.

Students listened and responded to primary source speeches and other spoken presentations. Students presented information, findings and supporting evidence while making strategic use of digital media to add interest.

English Language Learner students incorporated many digital tools, from Google Translations to Achieve 3000, Lexia, Kahoots, manythings.org, learningchocolate.com, and a multitude of other sites to support the learning of English. Students performed research, created power points, and presented their research to their peers in English.
