Mr. Sherburne

It is with great pride and excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as the newly appointed Principal of Longleaf Elementary School.  I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such a rich tradition of education!  I have been dedicated to the field of education for fourteen years.  I have worked with a variety of students' ranging in age from Kindergarten through Sixth grade.  My most recent administrative experience was at Lockmar Elementary School where I served as the Assistant Principal and before that I served as the Assistant Principal of Port Malabar Elementary School.  I am excited and eager to bring my skills as an educational leader to Longleaf Elementary School and work with you as a partner in education to ensure your child's success.

I have been married for 15 years to my wife, Nicole, who is a 6th teacher at Port Malabar Elementary School.  We are proud parents of two boys, Logan and Evan, who also attend Brevard Public Schools.  As a family we enjoy sports and the outdoors.  I am an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoy spending time with my boys and passing on traditions.

Along with the teachers and staff, I will work hard to continue the legacy of success established by Longleaf Elementary by building strong relationships with parents, students and community partners.  We will focus on character education initiatives, the use of data to drive instruction, and to provide consistent implementation of the curriculum in a rigorous manner so that we can continue to increase student achievement.
