Mr. Taylor Hickey - Launch English Teacher

Mr. Hickey comes from a family of educators and has always had a passion and love for teaching and reading. His students experience contemporary teaching methods and interactive learning opportunities in his Language Arts classroom. Students reach their full potential as he shares his passion for reading and writing and talking about great literature and current issues. Students grow in their ability to think and apply learning when they explore novels, stories, poems, and current events to their fullest.  He strives to create a relatable, collaborative, and engaging learning  environment to encourage his students to learn literature in new and relevant ways they can apply to their lives in the real world. His goal is for his students to fall in love with literature and become lifelong learners the same way he has.

Mrs. Makenna Diesel - Launch Science Teacher

Hey, I’m Makenna Diesel and I’m a born and raised “Brevard Girl”. I attended Challenger 7 Elementary, Space Coast Middle School, and Titusville High School. I graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2009 with a B.S. in Biological Science Education. During the past 11 years I have taught Biology, Integrated Science, Ecology, Genetics, and Marine Science. This year I’ve started on a new endeavor by joining Space Coast's LAUNCH Institute where I am co-teaching “Biometry”, a combination Biology and Geometry class. I firmly stand behind the quote: “To increase student engagement & ownership of learning, we should give students opportunities to do meaningful work - work that makes a difference locally, nationally, and globally!”
