Join the Fun and Learn about Gardening!

  • Sea Park Elementary has a Garden Club!  The focus of this after-school club, called the Sea Park Growers Club, is the different types of gardening and foods that can be grown by an individual in our particular USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 10.  This will include the typical “growing seasons” in our location, as well as fruits and vegetables that do best in our unique climate.  Organic gardening will be emphasized along with gardening techniques/habits that will facilitate the health of our gardens.  Besides the planning, development, and care of our gardens, we will have guest speakers covering the areas of pollinators, native plants, and other garden related topics.

    Due to the popularity of the club, we will continue to have meetings on Mondays and Thursdays from 2:30-3:30 PM.  Students are expected to be prompt to these meetings.  Beginning the 2019-2020 school year, students in grades 1-6 will be eligible for the year- long membership at $30.00/student.  If you have 2 or more children eligible, the fees for these additional children will be $15.00 each.  Children in grades VPK-Kindergarten will be eligible for membership in second semester.  Children in VPK and Kindergarten are required to have one-on-one supervision, provided by a parent/guardian at all times. Membership fees for each child, enrolled for second semester, will be $15.00. Applications for both semesters, grades VPK-6, will be accepted on/before August 29, 2019.  Incomplete applications will not be considered.

    Safety and Fairness are most important as we plan for a successful year.  Membership to the club will be limited to no more than 15 students, per day, during first semester and 20 per day, during second semester.  Attached you will find the 2019-2020 application form, T-shirt Order Form, Brevard County’s “Opt-Out Form for Student Photographs/Videos, and Directory Information, as well as a set of guidelines/rules.  If your, VPK-6th grade, student would like to join, please complete each of these forms, signing each form, and return them and the appropriate fee to the front office.  All checks need to be made out to Sea Park Elementary School.  Please provide your child’s first and last name in the memo section of the check.  Please complete one set of application/forms per child with a separate check.

    Parents are strongly encouraged to attend meetings with their child.  We are asking that a parent/guardian commit to no less than 5 hours of volunteer work per year.  Adult volunteer hour commitments may be honored in your preferred method of giving, as noted on the application page.
