Welcome to Music with Mrs. Doss!
Hello! My name is Jana Doss, and I am the music teacher at Williams Elementary. This is my third year in the music room, and I love every moment! I've had the opportunity to work with our Williams family since 2016 in the Media Center. My main instrument is the trombone and I actively participate in community orchestras, bands, and ensembles.

I am so excited to be able to teach your students music. My life revolves around music, and I'm very passionate about it. I look forward to working with our students from PreK — 6th grade on general music, chorus, strings, and/or Orff instruments. When your students step into my room, they will be able to sing, dance, listen and play instruments, read music, learn about composers, and become composers themselves!
One of my goals in the music classroom is to help students feel comfortable on stage and while performing for others. Students in grades K - 4th have the opportunity to participate in a grade level performance each year. These performances help develop confidence, enhance creativity and social skills, improve concentration and teamwork skills, and, hopefully(!!), provides a new hobby.

What will my student learn in music?
Posted by:Your student will learn all things MUSIC! This involves steady beat, rhythms, types of instruments, composers, genres, forms, melodies, and characteristics found in music.
-
What type of instruments will my student use?
Posted by:I am so grateful to have a large variety of instruments for your student to use throughout the school year. We will be using non-pitched instruments, pitched instruments, and of course our voice during many of our lessons. As a lifelong instrument player, my goal is to have your student playing an instrument as much as possible. We have a variety of drums, shakers, xylophones, bells, sound tubes, and other exciting instruments to explore throughout the year.
