Brevard Virtual School is our district's virtual (online) school for grades K-12. We provide online, distance learning curriculum and instruction for school-aged students residing in Brevard County, Florida. We primarily serve students in public schools (including charter schools) and home education.
-
Who can enroll at BVS, full-time?
School-aged students in grades K-12 can apply for enrollment in BVS. We are unable to serve students in pre-k or adults beyond school-age.
-

Although BVS students work from home, when they are enrolled in our Full-Time program they are considered to be public school students. We do offer enrollment options for home education students, which can be found by clicking here.
-
What is the difference between BVS and FLVS?
Both programs utilize the same online curriculum and platform (FLVS). BVS classes are taught by local, Brevard teachers serving only Brevard students. Additionally, our program combines online instruction and face-to-face support at our campus in Cocoa. Participation in face-to-face activities are mandatory. Families who do not wish to have any required in-person activity, should explore our home education program.
-
Will my student be required to come to campus for any activities?
Yes, in person activities are an important part of our full-time program. In the 20-21 school year we greatly limited these activities due to COVID-19. We will reintroduce these programs in the 21-22 school year and participation will be required. This includes, but is not limited to orientation, live lessons, extra support, enrichment activities, K-5 Prime Time.
Additionally, district/state testing that cannot be conducted virtually will be required to be completed on a school campus (examples include, but are not limited to, FSA and EOC testing)
If you are looking for a program that has no required in-person activities, click here to learn about our Home School Eagles program.
-
Can my student work at a flexible pace?
BVS full-time students are required to complete their courses during the school year, maintaining minimum pace throughout the year. Each course includes pace charts to clearly show students and parents the weekly requirements. Flexibility is available within the school week, as long as the work for that week is submitted. Students are able to work at an accelerated pace, to complete course work faster. This should always be done in conjunction with the teacher and counselor, but it is an option as long as minimum pace is maintained.
-
What is the difference between full-time and part-time?
Full-time students are in our public school program and receive all of their instruction through our school. They do not participate in any classes at a local, traditional school (with the exception of select ESE services).
Part-time students are registered and attending classes at a local, brick and mortar school and are taking one or more classes with BVS. Virtual classes can be taken as part of the school day, outside the school day and in the summer. Students wishing to enroll part time should work with their school guidance counselor and can also learn more by clicking here.

These may be lessons, extra help sessions, no-appointment Discussion Based Assessments, etc. Teachers are able to make some of these activities mandatory, especially for students who are struggling with concepts or if they are not maintaining adequate pace. In addition to these opportunities, all students in our full-time program will have a once monthly, mandatory online homeroom session.
