Important Attendance Reminders
Cocoa students and families:
This is a reminder that at the middle and high school levels, attendance is taken and counted by class period each day. Students may not have more than 9 unexcused class periods in any single class periods 1 through 7 each semester. Students who go over 9 unexcused absences will be required to submit an Attendance Appeals packet or face course failure due to attendance (FA). This is a district attendance policy and can be found in the Student Code of Conduct.
Additionally, students are expected to be on time to every class. Students who are tardy to class more than 3 times in a semester will be required to have an attendance meeting with their grade-level administrator and may face after school detention, lunch detention, and/or suspension time as a result of chronic tardiness.
On time and regular attendance to class is the primary indicator in student academic success. Families, please discuss the importance of good attendance habits with your student. We will be enforcing attendance consequences in the coming weeks in an effort to help students learn the importance of being present and on time to every class, every day.
We thank you for your understanding and support.
