Brevard Public Schools Releases Information on Class of 2021 Celebrations and Graduation
Viera, FL -- Brevard Public Schools has been working closely with each of its high schools to ensure that the class of 2021 is able to safely enjoy some of the traditions that come along with senior year. The district is pleased to release preliminary information regarding upcoming celebrations and graduation events.
Each high school will host an in-person graduation ceremony that follows health and safety protocols aligned to CDC guidance on large group gatherings. Graduation ticket availability will be based on social distancing, class size and venue size. “The commencement ceremony recognizes the students’ graduation while honoring and celebrating their entrance into their post-secondary pursuits. We continue our commitment to the importance of the ceremonies for each of our graduates and their families,” said Dr. Stephanie Soliven, Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Leading and Learning. The district is also committed to partnering with local media to livestream each graduation ceremony.
Given the state of COVID-19 in our community, the district has determined that typical celebrations including prom and grad bash cannot be held in a manner consistent with CDC guidelines. However, each Principal will work with their senior class to develop an alternative celebration event which meets current health and safety guidelines. Details of each event along with safety protocols will be released by each school.
“In a year that has been filled with challenges never before encountered, our students and staff have continued to rise to the occasion and do so with grace and flexibility. Their resiliency has been inspirational to all of us. As a district, we will continue to do all we can to celebrate the class of 2021 and provide them a memorable senior experience while keeping the health and safety of our students and staff as our top priority,” said Dr. Mark Mullins, Superintendent of Brevard Public Schools.
Leading up to these important senior events, the district will continue to monitor the impact COVID-19 has on our community and will be prepared to react as needed to ensure the safety of students and staff.
