Security Updates for Brevard Public Schools Volunteers
Viera, FL: Based on new procedures and guidelines that Brevard County Schools has adopted; the Office of District and School Security has conducted an extensive review of the active volunteers listed in our Volunteer database and have deactivated and/or expired all active volunteer statuses that were approved prior to May 1, 2018 to meet the new guidelines.
Volunteers who fall into this category will be sent an email notification to explain the process to renew their volunteer status. The Board and the Superintendent encourage those that wish to volunteer to complete the application process, and have secured funding on a limited basis to pay for the initial $35.00 fingerprint submissions for Brevard Public School volunteers.
To retain fingerprints with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement; individuals will be required to renew their annual volunteer status each year following the approval at a cost of $8.00 payable online or in person.
“Volunteers are both necessary and so very appreciated in our schools,” said Russell Bruhn, Chief Strategic Communications Officer. “We are thankful we can have them back on campuses this year in various capacities and we encourage our families and community members to consider becoming a part of their neighborhood schools as a volunteer.”
