BPS Social Studies Teachers of the Year

Elementary and Secondary Leading and Learning are pleased to announce the recipients of the 2023 Brevard Public Schools Social Studies Teachers of the Year.

• Elementary School - Lisa Burke of Lewis Carroll Elementary School
• Middle School - Emily Jensen of Kennedy Middle School
• High School - Megan Terseck of Palm Bay Magnet High School

Every year, elementary and secondary schools nominate one social studies teacher for this award. Nominated teachers complete a rigorous application including their administrator's recommendation.

After district winners are selected by a committee, teachers are honored at a state conference hosted by the Florida Council for the Social Studies in October 2023. District winners will also be eligible to compete at the state level for the 2023 Florida Social Studies Teacher of the Year Award.
