2017 National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence (also awarded in 2008)
October 2017
Edgewood Jr/Sr High School was named as a 2017 National Blue Ribbon Schools by the U.S. Department of Education. The program recognizes public and private elementary, middle, and high schools based on their overall academic excellence or their progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups. Edgewood was awarded in the Exemplary High Performing category, which recognizes the state's highest performing schools as measured by state assessments or nationally normed tests.
Principal Jaqueline Ingratta said, “The National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence Award is the highest recognition a school can receive. I am honored and proud to serve among such a dedicated group of pedagogical leaders, and Edgewood will continue to seek excellence in who we are, what we know, and what do.”
This coveted award affirms the hard work of educators, families and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging and engaging content. This year 342 schools across the nation received this prestigious award, and Edgewood was one of only four secondary schools in the state to be named. Edgewood was previously recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School in 2008.
The honorees will be celebrated during an award ceremony Nov. 6-7 in Washington, D.C.
