Weekly Email from Dr. Ferreira

Hello Viera families,

On February 8, 2019, VHS students and staff participated on a successful fire drill.  Thank you to all the teachers and students for your participation in this safety school wide event.  The Safety Committee continues to meet and discuss the most appropriate measures to keep our students and staff safe.

Congratulations to VHS faculty and staff for the 4-point increase in the College and Career Readiness points, as indicated by the 2018 graduation cohort.  College and Career Readiness is one of the categories involved in the calculation of the yearly school grade.  This category deals with the number of students who scored at least a level 3 in an AP class, scored at least a C in a dual enrollment class, or passed an industry certification test.

As a faculty and staff, we continue to give students the opportunity to achieve academic levels that are needed for entry into and success in postsecondary workforce education or directly into a job that offers gainful employment and career advancement.

We are so pleased to share the accomplishments of our students during the Brevard Mainland Science Fair, held during January 29 – January 30 weekend.  Thank you so much for all the parents, teachers and administrators who could attend this event.  We also would like to thank Ms. Elizabeth Youngs (Science Department) and Mrs. Beth Harris (Media Specialist) for all your efforts.  Congratulations:
