Weekly Message March 29, 2021
General PTA Meeting
Please join us for our Facebook Live General PTA meeting on Tuesday, March 30 (tomorrow) at 6:30 PM. West Shore’s guidance and certified mental health counselor, Miss Hannah Smith, will be speaking about facilitating better communication with our teens and about mental health first aid.
Spring Testing Schedule
Our testing schedule for the state mandated testing has been posted to our webpage and Peachjar. Please take a moment to review the assessment dates. We ask that you not schedule any appointments on the days your child has state mandated testing. If your child is in an AP course, please have them check with their teacher for the date of their exam. Typically, these tests are held the first 2-3 weeks in May.
E-learners are required to take the tests in person so please plan accordingly.
Seniors
Reminder that applications for seniors interested in giving a speech at graduation, singing the National Anthem or playing the class song are due by 3:45PM on April 1st.
Returning Student Pre-registration and Course Requests
Final reminder that Final course selections and pre-registration papers were due back prior to Spring Break. Just over 20% of our returning students have not submitted their papers. If your child has not yet turned theirs in, please remind them to do so ASAP. If your child is not returning to West Shore next year, please sign and write not returning on the course selection form before turning it in.
Mental Health Instruction
This Wednesday, March 31, our guidance counselors will be presenting the final State Mandated Mental Health Instruction topic of the year, Depression Awareness. We understand that this is a sensitive topic, especially considering the challenging year we are currently experiencing. We will have counselors available in the guidance office throughout the day on Wednesday to speak with students who would like to talk. Additionally, all of our counselors are available to students to help them work through any issues they may need help with each day.
Project Graduation
If you have a senior and have not received an email about Andretti Thrill Park or Senior yard signs please contact wildcatpg@gmail.com. Parents from all grades are welcome to attend our meeting and all those in attendance must wear a mask.
Business Partner of the Year
West Shore is proud to name Carpenter Kessel Homeselling Team as our Business Partner of the Year! Thank you to Kirk Kessel and Brittany Laylock for your steadfast commitment to our school and school community.
