Week of December 16-20, 2019

Dear Parents,

Midterm exams will take place December 17-20, 2019.  The VHS midterm exam schedule is now posted on our school website.  Please access this schedule in order to plan for your student’s exams.  In an effort to maintain the integrity and security of all exams, midterm exams will not be given earlier than the scheduled day and time.  Should a student miss an exam due to an absence, he/she would need to take the exam after winter break with Mrs. Smith.    A grade of an “F” will be issued until the exam is taken. If the exam is not taken, the “F” will remain as the final exam grade.

The following measures are being taken to ensure an optimal testing environment for all Viera High School students taking exams.

  • No checkout passes will be given to students on Early Release exam days.

    • No parent notes, phone calls or emails will be permitted on exam days for pre-arranged checkouts.

  • No checking out and checking back in.

    • Students will not be permitted to self check-out / then check back in on exam days.

  • No checkouts during exam times.

    • Students cannot checkout during exams already in progress.  Class cannot be interrupted to call for a student.

  • Students are not permitted to call or text home to be picked up early during exam days.

Failure due to Absences Appeals Committee will meet Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (December 18-20, 2019) from 2:30-3:30 PM.  Students and parents will be notified of the committee’s decision in writing when we return from winter break.

Viera Chorus has completed two of their three nights of performances at EPCOT for the Candlelight Processional.  This past weekend, they got to meet their narrator for the night, Gary Sinise!  Our students performed beautifully and represented Viera High and Brevard Schools proudly as a designated honor choir.  VHS chorus will be performing two more shows on December 27, 2019 at EPCOT at 6:45PM and 8:15PM.  Hope to see you there!

Viera High School will offer Driver Education during zero hour for the second semester, starting on Wednesday January 8, 2020.  The cost of the course will be $80.00, payable on the first day of class.  Students must have a valid Learner’s Permit by the start of the course.  Zero hour starts at 7:15 AM and ends at 8:15 AM on all school days.  Registration must be completed in person at our guidance office reception desk and will be done on a first come, first serve basis, beginning December 2, 2019.  There are 27 spots available.  If you have any questions, please e-mail Tim Rooney at rooney.tim@brevardschools.org.

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday and look forward to our students returning in January.
