Our Spanish Academic Team earned first place in their division for the third time in the Florida State Spanish Competition. They did a wonderful job, which resulted in 22 “Outstanding” ratings in impromptus, declamations, and dramatic presentation. More than half of the members went to this competition for the first time this year. Special thanks to Sean Paul Pichardo and Eliana Petersen for their support during this three-day competition.

The Brevard County Speech and Debate Spring Tournament was held on Saturday, March 7, 2020. Viera High School took home awards in two categories.  Congratulations to Ms. Burley and her team.

Parents are invited to participate in the Brevard Public Schools parent survey.  The survey will be available in English and Spanish to all parents from March 2 through March 13, 2020. Parents can access this survey online at:  http://tinyurl.com/BrevardFE.  The purpose of this survey is to provide schools with information that will help identify areas of strength and areas in need of additional attention.  Survey results and comments will guide school improvement efforts and be used to meet the diverse needs of our students and families.  By completing this survey, you will help us serve each of our students at Viera High School with excellence.

The Viera High School Wind Ensemble has been invited to perform at the prestigious Music for All National Festival held in Indianapolis, Indiana, March 12-14, 2020. Viera High School’s selection was based on the results of a panel of adjudicators review of submitted audio recordings. Twenty-four bands from across the nation will perform as part of this festival. In addition to the performance, which includes written and recorded evaluation, the wind ensemble will have a 30-minute clinic that will involve three evaluators who will work simultaneously with each band.  We appreciate your support of these student musicians and the fine arts at Viera High School. There will be a concert as a brief "sendoff" performance for the Viera Wind Ensemble, held at 6:30 PM in the Viera High School Auditorium on Tuesday, March 10. Admission is free.

Senior Awards Night will be held Thursday, April 30, 2020 at 6:00 PM in the VHS Auditorium. If your senior student has been awarded an academic scholarship from a private club or from the University that he or she will be attending, please let the guidance department know. To be recognized, students must complete a recognition form with a copy of the award letter attached and return the form to the guidance department by April 10th. Returning the form by April 10th will ensure that your student’s name will be included in the program. For senior awards night questions, please email: fink.heidi@brevardschools.org
