VHS Parent Update - March 18
Good Afternoon Hawk Families,
First of all, I hope you are all enjoying your spring break with family and friends.
I wanted to provide you all with an update based on the latest information I have received.
I understand and appreciate the high emotions surrounding this time of uncertainty. I want you all to know that Viera High School Administration, Teachers, and Staff are here to support you and your student. Please know that we understand that you and your family are experiencing a great deal of confusion and uncertainty during this unprecedented time. We understand that our students, especially our seniors, are frustrated and fearful of missing out on planned events. I will continue to provide you with updates whenever possible and will communicate regarding any changes.
At this time, students will not return to school until April 15, 2020 at the earliest. Beginning on Monday, March 30th, all Brevard Public School instruction will be provided online. Students will need to access instruction and assignments via FOCUS. Please refer to our school website to access an instruction sheet for logging into Launchpad and FOCUS. Many teachers already utilize online platforms such as Google Classroom, Khan Academy, and other online resources with their students. They may continue to do so, but all directions will be given to students via the FOCUS portal.
As a reminder, please visit the Brevard Schools Website and the Brevard Schools Facebook Page for the most up-to-date information. Currently, there are multiple locations where students can receive free student meals beginning Monday, March 23rd. Additionally, Viera High School is currently working on a plan to provide devices to our students that do not have devices at home for online instruction.
As we adjust to online instruction, there will be many questions. We will work together to get answers to you and your student. Together, we will ensure the continued success of our students and community.
