New Reading Endorsement Requirement

Beginning with the 2020-2021 school year, per House Bill 7055, intensive reading interventions must be delivered by a teacher who is certified or endorsed in reading.  This applies to all teachers delivering intensive reading instruction (Intensive Course B- students identified as substantially deficient) in K-12 classrooms.  According to a December 11, 2019 update from the DOE and Just Read Florida, teachers will be considered "in progress" working towards their endorsement by taking two reading endorsement courses per school year until their courses are complete and they have the 5 courses necessary to add the endorsement to their teaching certificate.

During the 2020-2021 school year, we will be offering additional models of instruction to assist teachers with meeting this new requirement.  You will be receiving additional information from your principal.
