Columbia Elementary recently welcomed fantastic community volunteers for our African American Read-In, where students had the opportunity to hear powerful stories written by African American authors.
Thank you to all of our amazing community members who gave their time to participate in Columbia Elementary’s African American Read-In.
Our media specialist, Mrs. VonEdwins, curated a wonderful collection of books written by authors of color, giving students the opportunity to experience a wide range of voices and perspectives.
Throughout the morning, our guest readers visited classrooms and shared these stories with students in grades K–6, helping bring literature to life and celebrating the importance of representation in books.
The African American Read-In is part of a national initiative that promotes reading works by African American authors during Black History Month, encouraging communities to come together through storytelling and literacy.
We are incredibly grateful to the volunteers who helped make this event special for our students. Your time, enthusiasm, and love of reading made a lasting impact!
