Cape View Supporting Military Families The Florida Purple Star School of Distinction Designation was established by the Florida legislature in 2021 and further defined in Rule 6A-1.0999, Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.). The Florida Purple Star School District Program was established by the Florida legislature in 2024. Once awarded, schools and districts will maintain their designation as a Purple Star School of Distinction or Purple Star School District for three school years. The purpose of the Purple Star School of Distinction Designation and Purple Star School District Program is to recognize schools that support the unique needs of military families, help military-connected students navigate critical challenges and provide resources for military-connected students when transitioning to a new school environment. We are asking our military families to please send in a photo to hang on the wall of distinction in the front office. Our goal is to support you in many ways!

Florida Purple Star Campus
We need you!! We are looking for members to join our School Advisory Council! The School Advisory Council (SAC) is a team of people representing various segments of the community, parents, teachers, students, administrators, support staff, business/ industry people and other interested community members. SAC members gather to discuss the school’s academic plan and progress. They discuss the School Improvement Plan - a plan made of goals and objectives established for the school determined by needs. The purpose of the School Improvement Plan is to increase student performance. The SAC committee assists the school principal with budget and recommendations on how school monies are spent or allocated. Members represent School Advisory Councils are governed by Florida Sunshine Laws, therefore requiring a quorum (51% or more) to be physically present to conduct SAC business. Each month we will be meeting on the third Monday at 5:00. If you are interested in being a voting member, please email Ms. Thornton at thornton.sharon@brevardschools.org. The vote will be at our Open House on September 17th. The next meeting will be September 23rd at 5:00.

Please send your extra change with your students. We are having a Penny War to see which classroom get the most change. The winning team will be able to throw a PIE in the face of Administration, Classroom Teacher or Activity Teacher. Funds raised benefit student programs and incentives.

Weather at Dismissal - If we have rainy or server weather at dismissal we will be following the procedures below to ensure everyone is safe. RAINY DAY - Walker/Bikers 1. If you are planning to come in the on rainy days, please contact the students teacher. 2.Students will be moved to a classroom near the walker/biker area and wait until the rain lightens up or has stopped. 3. Parents can wait under the overhang by the Media Center. SEVERE WEATHER- This is when it is storming with lightning. We will go into a Shelter in Place where we have everyone stay in the classrooms. A text message will go out to parents letting you know that we are in a Shelter in Place due to severe weather and dismissal will be delayed. BUS RIDERS: as soon as it is safe for students to get on the buses we will load them. CAR RIDERS- as soon as it is safe for students and staff to be outside we will begin the car line. WALKERS/BIKERS - as soon as it is safe for students and staff to be outside we will begin to dismiss students. Parents will come to the outside door by the cafeteria and wait in the cafeteria.
