Satellite High School’s talented Theatre program is set to dazzle audiences with its upcoming production of Chicago (Teen Edition)—a high-energy musical that transports viewers straight into the glitz, glamour, and intrigue of the Roaring Twenties.

Set in 1920s Chicago, the story follows Roxie Hart, an ambitious chorus girl who commits a shocking crime and then manipulates her devoted husband, Amos, into taking the blame. When the truth comes to light, Roxie finds herself on death row, where she meets fellow “Merry Murderess” Velma Kelly. The two rivals quickly realize that fame is their greatest weapon, and they ultimately join forces in pursuit of the ultimate prize: the “American Dream”—celebrity, fortune, and freedom.

This special Teen Edition of Chicago has been thoughtfully adapted to showcase student performers while maintaining the essence of the iconic musical. The result is a production that is both student-appropriate and artistically compelling. The show is rated PG-13.

Originally debuting on Broadway in 1975, Chicago quickly became a theatrical sensation. Directed and choreographed by the legendary Bob Fosse, the original production ran for 936 performances. Its enduring popularity led to a revival in 1996 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, which later moved to the Shubert Theatre and then the Ambassador Theatre, where it continues to captivate audiences today as one of the longest-running shows in Broadway history.

Satellite High School’s production promises to highlight the incredible dedication, creativity, and talent of its student performers, musicians, and technical crew. With dazzling choreography, unforgettable music, and a story that satirizes fame and the media, Chicago (Teen Edition) is sure to leave audiences thoroughly entertained.
