On Saturday 9/20 Stone Magnet Middle students and families gathered in efforts to encourage conservation efforts and clean up our local beaches. We were supported in kind by Harmony High School's Ocean Club with the same spirit of environmental protection. With over 54 volunteers, 6 different beach locations, Stone Magnet Middle collected over 112 lbs. of trash from our shores. (We did not collect or weigh HHS collections).

White background wiht a picture of Ms. Feronti Williams and Myah Young holding a certificate. The words: Congratulations to MYAH FOR WINNING OUR 9/11 POETRY CONTEST "THE DAY HOPE FELL" THE MORNING ROSE, CALM, CLEAR, BUT ENDED IN SMOKE, IN ASH, AND FEAR. ONE MOMENT, LAUGHTER FILLED THE AIR, THE NEXT - JUST SILENCE, EVERYWHERE. WE WAITED FOR YOU, WE CALLED YOUR NAME, BUT ONLY ECHOES, NEVER CAME YOUR CHAIR SITS EMPTY, YOUR COAT STILL HUNG, YOUR FAVORITE SONG REMAINS UNSUNG. THE WORLD KEPT TURNING, BUT OUR STOOD STILL, A WOUND THAT TIME COULD NEVER FILL. THE SKYLINE CHANGED, OUR HEARTS DID TOO, WE LOST, A PART OF US WITH YOU. THE CANDLES BURNED, THE PRAYERS WERE SAID, FOR ALL THE LIVES, FOR ALL THE DEAD. BUT HOPE FEELS DISTANT, OUT OF REACH, LIKE WAVES RETREATING FROM THE BEACH, ALL THAT REMAINS OUR NAMES AND TEARS, AND MEMORIES THAT HAUNT THE YEARS. A SKY WENT BLUE, NOW GRAY WITH LOSS - THE DAY HOPE FELL, BENEATH THE CROSS.

We’re halfway through “Show Up September” and your commitment to showing up is making a difference! Keep building those strong habits: every day in class is a step toward success. Stay consistent. Stay motivated. Stay all in for attendance. Here is an attendance fact… Chronic absence — missing 10 percent or more of school days due to absence for any reason—excused, unexcused absences and suspensions, can translate into students that have difficulty learning to read by the third grade, achieving in middle school, and graduating from high school.
