The Florida Music Education Association (FMEA) awards the Secondary Music Enrollment Award to music programs demonstrating high enrollment in music courses. This award recognizes the effectiveness of programs that offer attractive music curricula as well as those that excel in the recruitment and retention of students. Schools that meet the criteria hold the award for three years, during which time they may be asked to serve FMEA as a resource on the topics of programming, scheduling, recruitment, and retention of students. To qualify for the award, 30 percent at the high school level and 45 percent at the middle school level of the entire student body, as reported during October FTE, must be enrolled in music courses. Since 1994, Brevard’s secondary schools have earned this award 84 times. Titusville High School was the only 2025 recipient for the high school level. We are proud to announce that 33% of our student enrollment is scheduled to take band, orchestra, or chorus. Congratulations, Mr. Schwindt, Ms. Zahn, Mrs. Sperr, and Mr. Rorer!
