BVS Art Program
Brevard Virtual School offers art opportunities in grades K-12. Our students explore art technique, expression and artist under the guidance of Ms. Sodano. BVS students also participate in district Art Showcases throughout the school year. You can visit our BVS Art Gallery here to see what our students are creating.
K-5 Art
Art courses offer students the opportunity to learn about the elements of art, work hands on with various techniques as they create their own artwork.
Middle School Art (6th-8th Grade)
M/J Digital Art and Design 1 - (2 Segments)
Students not only investigate digital art, but they will learn how to create it in this course. Students will explore the tools, basic concepts and techniques artists use to create digital art, including computers, digital cameras, editing software and more.
M/J Visual Art 1 (1 Segment)
Students will discover tools and techniques artists use as they create their own drawings, sculptures, paintings, photographs and mixed-media works. Students will need to purchase supplies for this class, based on the art work they wish to create.
M/J Visual Art 2 (1 Segment)
Students will continue their learning by creating their own portrait, earth, paper, Pop and globally inspired art. Students will grown their skills and techniques as they experiment with mediums like drawing, painting, sculpting, mixed media and even digital art.
M/J Exploring Two-Dimensional Art:
Students will investigate a wide range of media and techniques, in traditional and modern art styles, while exploring the art-making processes of drawing, painting, printmaking, and/or collage. You will need to purchase supplies for this class, based on the art work you wish to create.
High School Art (9th-12th Grade)
All art courses fulfill the graduation requirement for fine/performing arts or elective credit.
Digital Art Imaging 1 (1.0 Credit - 2 Segments)
Students will explore fundamental concepts, tools and techniques of digital imaging. They will use computers, digital cameras, editing software and more to create digital artworks.
Two-Dimensional (2D) Studio Art (1.0 Credit - 2 Segments)
Experiment with media and techniques to create a variety of artworks as you develop your skills in drawing, painting and more! Students will need to purchase supplies for this class, based on the art work they wish to create.
Art History and Criticism 1 Honors:
Students will gain knowledge of global art and architecture, from prehistory through the 21st century. The course develops students' analytical, writing, and problem-solving skills by having them compare and critique artworks worldwide. It provides honors-level credit and fulfills a fine art requirement for high school graduation.
AP Art History:
Students will develop analytical skills and a deep understanding of art's role in human culture and history, preparing them for college-level work by fostering critical analysis, identification, and interpretive skills as they research artworks. The course emphasizes an inquiry-based approach, where students engage in research and project-based activities.
