Mrs. Nicole Gaumond

Principal

My name is Nicole Gaumond. This is my eighth year as principal of Dr. W.J. Creel Elementary. This is my 20th year as an educator. I have taught kindergarten, second, third, and fourth grades. I earned my Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education from The University of Montevallo in 2003. I also hold a Master's in Educational Leadership from The American College of Education. I have been married to my wonderfully supportive husband, Kyle. We are blessed to have two beautiful children. My daughter Presley is nine and loves all things related to dance. Our son Grayson is five and loves anything related to being outside and sports. My family and I enjoy spending time at the beach and traveling together. As the principal of Dr. W.J. Creel I hope to serve every child with excellence as the standard. It is my goal to continue to ensure our students are learning in a safe and supportive academic environment at all times. I am always here to help any student or family of Dr. W.J. Creel. I look forward to another amazing year at Dr. W.J. Creel Elementary where TOGETHER WE WILL ACHIEVE GREATNESS!

Mrs. Sarah Sotomayor

Assistant Principal

My name is Sarah Sotomayor and this is my fourth year as an Assistant Principal at Creel Elementary. I have been blessed to serve in Brevard county Schools for the past fifteen years. I earned my bachelor's degree from the University of North Florida in 2010 and my Master's degree in 2018 from UNF as well. I taught first grade, third grade, and then served as an interventionist for all grades K-6. As the result, I have a wealth of knowledge about each grade level. I am passionate about equipping our students with early literacy skills as a foundation for lifelong success in reading.

In my free time, I enjoy going to baseball games with my husband and son- Go Yankees!

I feel blessed to be part of the Creel community and look forward to another great year of learning and growing.

Mrs. Carolyn Leard

Assistant Principal

Carolyn Leard is an experienced educator with more than 20 years in elementary education, specializing in dual language programs and English as a Second Language. Throughout her career, she has supported diverse learners through inclusive, research-based instructional practices and a strong focus on language development and student success.

She holds masters degrees in Educational Leadership, English Language Learning, and Learning with Technology, equipping her with expertise in instructional design, school leadership, and innovative teaching practices. Carolyn is also a mother of three teenage children and enjoys traveling the world with her husband, Verle, experiences that continue to shape her global perspective and passion for lifelong learning.
