"Just Moved," No Longer Zoned for Student's Current School

"Just Moved," No Longer Zoned for Student's Current School of Enrollment

During the academic school year: Have you recently moved to a new address and now your KG-12th grade student can no longer attend their zoned school based on your new address?

During the summer (between academic school years): Have you "Just Moved" to a new address and your KG-11th grade student attended a school for the prior academic school year (through the end of the academic year)that is no longer your zoned school for the current school year?

If your answer is yes (to either question above), you have two options.

Option #1:

You may request for your student to remain  at their current school by submitting a “Just Moved” application.

In order to complete a “Just Moved” application, you must do the following:

  1. Notify the school your student(s) is attending that you just moved.

  2. Complete a "Just Moved "application. This application is completed after you move (not before).

  3. Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 Proof of Residency. Click the Tier 1 and Tier 2 Proof Link for more information on acceptable documents

Upon BPS approval of the application, the student and parent automatically enters into a contract requiring expectations for :

  • Academic Performance

  • Attendance (including on-time pick-up)

  • Appropriate Behavior (Policy 5121).

(Note:  If you already have an school FOCUS account, you will not need to create a new account.  You will need to upload your new proof of residency).

After you create your account and upload your new proof of residency, you will start the "Just Moved" application.

Click the "Just Moved" Link for directions on how to apply for a "Just Moved " to a new address application for the current school year..

Option #2:

You may enroll your student into the school you are now zoned for based on your new residential address.  To find out your zoned school, go to School Site Locator (located on the BPS homepage).
