Viera, FL — Brevard Public Schools (BPS) is celebrating a major academic milestone as five of its high schools have been named among the best in Florida and the nation in the 2025 U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools Rankings. Two schools earned spots in the Top 100 nationally, and all five placed within the Top 101 in Florida. 

Leading the way is West Shore Junior/Senior High School, ranked #5 in Florida and #57 nationally. Principal Burt Clark attributes the school’s success to a strong partnership between educators, families, and students. “This recognition is a testament to the strength of our community and our shared commitment to academic achievement and personal growth,” Clark said. “At West Shore, our mission is to transform our confident learners of today into the empowered leaders of tomorrow.” 

Edgewood Jr/Sr High School, ranked #9 in Florida and #89 nationally, also earned high praise. Principal Jacqueline Ingratta highlighted the collaborative spirit that drives the school’s success. “This incredible honor is a testament to the dedication of our students, the expertise of our teachers and staff, and the steadfast support of our families and our community,” she said. “Together, we have created a culture of excellence that continues to shine on both the state and national levels.” 

The rankings are based on a comprehensive analysis of college readiness, Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) participation and performance, graduation rates, and state assessment scores.

    #85 in Florida | #1,280 in the U.S. 

  • Viera High School 
    #101 in Florida | #1,492 in the U.S. 

Superintendent Dr. Mark Rendell praised the district’s performance, stating, “It is great to see the hard work of our students and staff recognized with these rankings. Our entire community should be very proud. Student access to advanced coursework is critical to their success in the future, and these schools are meeting this need at a high level.”
