Students at Destination Moon

Brevard County students are spending the week immersed in space‑themed STEM learning as the district hosts its annual Destination Moon competition, an experience strengthened by a $190,000 investment from Boeing. The program brings 5th and 6th grade students together for a series of hands-on activities designed to strengthen problem‑solving, teamwork, and technical reasoning.

More than 525 students representing 35 schools are participating by engaging in tasks that mirror the scientific and engineering considerations involved in lunar exploration. These activities emphasize real-world applications of math, physics, and technology, aligning with national interest as NASA advances toward upcoming Artemis missions.

Throughout the event, students rotate through station-based challenges that encourage critical thinking and collaboration. From constructing models to analyzing mission scenarios, participants experience STEM concepts in a dynamic format that strengthens both academic learning and career awareness. The district’s partnership with Boeing makes it possible to provide these interactive opportunities at scale, supporting long-term efforts to cultivate a future-ready workforce rooted in strong technical skills.
