Brevard Public Schools high schools reported their strongest College and Career Acceleration (CCA) results on record during the 2024–2025 school year, with 75% of graduating seniors earning a CCA designation before graduation.
College and Career Acceleration is a key component of Florida’s school accountability system and measures how effectively high schools prepare students for postsecondary success. Students earn a CCA designation by completing advanced coursework, college credit, industry certifications, or military pathway qualifications that demonstrate readiness for college, careers, or military service.
District leaders attribute the historic gains to a targeted, student-centered approach that focused on helping more students complete credentials already within reach. School administrators and instructional teams worked closely with juniors and seniors to identify remaining requirements and remove barriers to completion.
“Excellence in College and Career Acceleration is never achieved by chance,” said James Rehmer, Chief of Schools for Brevard Public Schools. “This year’s historic achievement reflects strategic leadership and a districtwide commitment to expanding opportunities and ensuring students reach the finish line.”
Several high schools posted notable year-over-year improvements in CCA performance, each increasing their rates by more than three percentage points. Those schools include Brevard Virtual School, Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High, Merritt Island High, Rockledge High, Space Coast Jr./Sr. High, and Titusville High.
West Shore Jr./Sr. High School and Edgewood Jr./Sr. High School continued to rank among the district’s top performers, with both schools reporting CCA rates above 98 percent.
Students may contribute to their school’s CCA score by earning college credit through Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, AICE, or dual enrollment courses; completing career dual enrollment clock-hour programs; earning qualifying industry certifications; or meeting military qualification benchmarks before graduation.
District officials noted the results represent the second year of a multi-year improvement effort and say early indicators suggest additional gains may be on the horizon for future graduating classes.
