BREVARD COUNTY, FL. (July 1, 2026) — Brevard Public Schools has earned its third consecutive districtwide “A” rating from the State of Florida, capping another year of academic growth that saw 17 schools improve their letter grades and nearly 80% of district schools earn an A or B.

The latest school grades reflect continued progress across the district, with gains in English Language Arts, mathematics, science, social studies, graduation rates and accelerated learning opportunities. BPS officials say the results underscore a sustained focus on student achievement and classroom success.

“This is the third year of steady growth and improvement,” Superintendent Dr. Mark Rendell said. “We need to acknowledge and celebrate the efforts of our students and our classroom teachers. Their hard work led to these results.”

Among the district’s most notable accomplishments this year, four schools made the rare leap from a C rating to an A in a single year: Croton Elementary, Port Malabar Elementary, Roy Allen Elementary and Mims Elementary.

Districtwide, the number of schools earning an A increased from 37 to 41, while schools earning a B rose from 20 to 26. At the same time, the number of schools receiving a C rating dropped from 26 to 16. Overall, 79% of BPS schools earned either an A or B rating in 2025-26.

Academic performance also improved across multiple subject areas. Districtwide English Language Arts achievement increased by three percentage points, including a six-point gain in third-grade ELA proficiency. Mathematics achievement rose three points, while science and social studies each increased four points. Biology 1 achievement also improved by four points.

Middle school acceleration reached 77%, the highest level recorded by the district.

School Board Chair Matt Susin said the results reflect the dedication of educators and staff throughout the county.

“Three consecutive ‘A’ ratings don’t happen by accident,” Susin said. “They reflect the daily commitment of our teachers, principals and staff to student success. This year’s results, especially the schools that leapt two full letter grades, show what’s possible when high expectations are matched with real investment in our classrooms.”

In addition to the four schools that advanced from a C to an A, 13 other schools improved their ratings this year:

  • Atlantis Elementary School: Improved from a B to an A rating.

  • Audubon Elementary School: Improved from a B to an A rating.

  • Discovery Elementary School: Improved from a C to a B rating.

  • Sabal Elementary School: Improved from a C to a B rating.

The district’s three-year trend also shows significant improvement. Since the 2023-24 school year, BPS has increased its overall district grade score by 42 points, maintained three consecutive district A ratings and raised the percentage of schools earning an A or B from 64% to 79%.

During that same period, the district recorded a 5% increase in English Language Arts achievement, a 5% increase in Mathematics achievement, an 8% increase in Science achievement, a 6% increase in Social Studies achievement and a 7% increase in Middle School Acceleration. Graduation rates increased by 3%, while College and Career Acceleration improved by 1%.

With the 2025-26 results now finalized, district leaders say they plan to build on the momentum heading into the 2026-27 school year.
