VIERA, FL. [July 30, 2026] – Brevard Public Schools welcomed 270 new educators to Team BPS during the district's annual New Teacher Academy on Thursday, July 30.
The event introduced new hires to district leaders, colleagues, and resources designed to help them start the school year strong. From first-year teachers preparing to lead their own classrooms to experienced educators beginning the next chapter of their careers in Brevard Public Schools, attendees shared a common goal: helping students succeed.
As the new school year begins, BPS enters with 99% of classroom positions filled across the district. With nearly 5,000 teachers serving students districtwide, this year's 270 new hires represent approximately 5% of the instructional workforce, reflecting continued success in recruiting and retaining high-quality educators.
Throughout the academy, participants learned about district initiatives, instructional expectations, professional development opportunities, and the support available to help them succeed in the classroom.
The New Teacher Academy marks the beginning of each educator's journey with BPS, and the district is excited to welcome these talented professionals as they prepare to make a difference for students across Brevard County.
