VIERA, FL. [August 10, 2026] – More than 70,000 Brevard Public Schools students returned to classrooms Monday, August 10, marking the start of the 2026-27 school year.
Across the district, students were welcomed by teachers, staff, and administrators ready to help make this year a success. Hallways filled with excitement as students reunited with friends, met new teachers, and settled into their classrooms for the first day of school.
While students returned Monday, BPS educators have been preparing for the year since their return to campuses on August 3. Over the past week, teachers and staff participated in professional development, organized classrooms, and collaborated with colleagues to ensure schools were ready to welcome students back.
The new school year begins on the heels of a historic year for Brevard Public Schools. The district continued to demonstrate strong academic achievement, earning an A district grade from the Florida Department of Education and making significant gains in student performance across multiple areas.
With a dedicated team of nearly 5,000 teachers and support staff serving schools across the county, BPS is poised to build on that success and continue providing students with exceptional educational opportunities.
As another school year gets underway, Brevard Public Schools looks forward to a year filled with learning, growth, achievement, and memorable moments for students, staff, and families alike.
Welcome back, BPS!
